Graduation of WISDOM PhD Students from ZEF

On May 16th, Tatjana Bauer successfully defended her PhD thesis at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Bonn. Tatjana Bauer is the second out of 14 PhD students, who received her degree within the first phase of the WISDOM project. The defense took place at the Center for Development Research (ZEF), where Tatjana was enrolled as junior researcher for more than three years.

In her dissertation, Tatjana Bauer investigated the water-related scientific communities in Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta. In her one-year field research, she combined field survey designs with ethnographic approaches to better understand the characteristics and practices of knowledge production and knowledge sharing within the Vietnamese science sector.

Tatjana Bauer currently works at the Alexander von Humboldt-Foundation. Her thesis will soon be published in the ZEF Development Studies Series, Lit Verlag, Germany.

A third WISDOM PhD scholar from ZEF defended her thesis on the 27th of May at the Center for Development Research. Judith Ehlert graduated summa cum laude at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Bonn.

Drawing on a one-year ethnographic field research, Judith contributed to the understanding of the role and dynamic character of local knowledge on living with flood in the Mekong Delta.
